WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

San Francisco AIDS Foundation, No Regrets

Members:

Billie Holiday sings "No Regrets" as the camera pans across a messy apartment, where clothing and jock straps have been shucked off in haste. A sneaker even floats in the fish tank.

A voiceover says, "As much fun as we had taking things off, what made the night unforgettable -- and not regrettable -- was what he put on." Then an open condom wrapper is tossed onto the nightstand.

This ad and others from the San Francisco AIDS Foundation only aired in the organization's home city. It is an unfortunate reality that no major condom manufacturers, government agencies or any AIDS organizations have created national messages to the American gay community. Most traditional broadcast TV networks also will not carry such messages if condom makers wanted to air them.
