WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

RSVP Vacations, Paradise

Members:

RSVP ran a series of three 30 second spots on Bravo when it ran (and re-ran) the Ellen DeGenres Story.

The ads did not use models, but are shots of gay and lesbian guests enjoying RSVP Vacations. According to RSVP's director of marketing Paul Figlmiller, "This lends an intimacy and realness to the affection which is unusual."

Voiceover reads: "Its the perfect place. The entire resort, the entire ship is ours. New faces. New friends. Tropical breezes. Complete relaxation. Paradise. RSVP Vacations -- it's about your journey on this planet."

This commercial is more playful than the other two, yet still is romantic.

The advertisement is deceptive. It shows all young, attractive people with good bodies. I was recently on a cruise, and half of the passengers were middle-aged, pot-bellied faded queens. Any chance your ads will ever represent the actual people who sail on your cruises?

I agree, RSVP also states the average age as 30s-40s and this is not so. If you want to see what your fellow RSVP cruisemates will really look like, you need to scour the Internet for shots taken by actual passengers. Start at nucliawaste.com for the shocking truth.
