WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

RSVP Vacations, Journey Out

Members:

RSVP ran a series of three 30 second spots on Bravo when it ran (and re-ran) the Ellen DeGenres Story.

The ads did not use models, but are shots of gay and lesbian guests enjoying RSVP Vacations. According to RSVP's director of marketing Paul Figlmiller, "This lends an intimacy and realness to the affection which is unusual."

The voiceover says, "It's a vacation for the out and the way out. Free to be yourself or just to be. It's a journey to some great earthly places, and some places we create together. RSVP Vacations -- it's about your journey on this planet."

The ad includes shots includes many romantic shots of gay men and lesbians at play on vacation... sunning, dancing, swimming and even in drag at a costume ball. The images also include two women kissing.

Wow, they made a gay cruise look boring. Oh wait, this is just about depictions, and not the quality of the idea, right?
