"A father speaks," reads the screen.

Clips from Vice President Dick Cheney's speeches unfold..."Lynne and I have a gay daughter. We have two daughters, and we have enormous pride in both of them," he says.

"The Vice President spoke out against the Federal Marriage Amendment," interjects a female narrator.

"That's appropriately a matter for the states to decide," says Cheney. "That's how it ought to best be had."

"He spoke from the heart for millions of parents," says the narrator.

"My general view is that freedom means freedom for everyone. People ought to be free to enter into any kind of relationship they want to," continues Cheney.

Freedom is for everyone. Discrimination is wrong," says the narrator. "What if it was your child, Mr. President?" she asks. The question and the Human Rights Campaign logo also appear onscreen.
