WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

"My name is Kimya," says a woman sitting at her desk. "I am a master's prepared social worker. I got my undergraduate degree in social work in 1990, master's degree in social work in 1993, graduated cum laude." She points to the degrees, which hang on the walls behind her.

"What I do is not just what I do. It is my passion, and I'm good at it, but I was recently fired, not because of job performance, but simply because I'm a lesbian."

"In 36 states you can be fired just because you're gay," appears on screen.

"And I know that because they told me, 'This would not be happening if you were not a lesbian,'" Kimya adds.

She collects her belonging and walks out. The screen reads, "Find out more at TurnOut.org."

Other ads for the TurnOut campaign for equality feature gay men named Frank and Dave and a lesbian named Lisa.
