WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

Christian Action Network, Clinton's Vision for a Better America

Members:

This commercial aired over 250 times in 24 major cities across the country along with newspaper advertisements, in which the little known right wing organization Christian Action Network , Forest, Virg., condemned Clinton for supporting "radical homosexual rights."

This ad is interspersed with pictures of young men wearing chains and leather marching in a Gay Pride parade, and one wearing a "Gay Fathers" T-shirt, threatening the possibilities of gays in the military, gay adoptions and alleging gay "job quotas." The ad concluded by asking, "Is this your vision for a better America?"

The group, which failed to register as a political action committee, led to a Democratic complaint with the Federal Election Committee, or FEC, which said CAN was violating campaign laws. Following a government investigation, the FEC sued CAN in federal court in October 1994. However, the FEC lost the case against the group.

In 2000, the group came back with a more daring ad against Hillary Clinton just before her election for New York state senator in an attempt to foil the candidate.

With ominous music and drum beats, a narrator intones: "It is rumored that Hillary Clinton is a lesbian...It is rumored that Hillary Clinton supports homosexual marriage...It is rumored that Hillary Clinton will leave her husband upon taking office...It was rumored that Bill Clinton had an affair with Monica Lewinsky. Sometimes rumors are true. Shouldn't you know the truth? For more information on traditional family values, please contact the Christian Action Network."

This ad is disturbing. It amazes me that people are so homophobic to believe such a stupid commercial!

Ah, yes, the old tried-and-true method of mudslinging: "I'm too lazy to actually read up about my opponent, so I'll just make some shit up and hope everyone will buy it." Bleah.

Before promoting democracy and attacking dictators around the world, America should free the American people of its "value"-dictators. America is still far away from being a country of liberty and democracy it so badly wants to be..."...all equal before God" Yeah, right...

I cannot believe the ignorance in people, what a shame we all have to be subjected to such hate.

This ad is absolutely appalling. I find it very depressing that an ad like this can run so many times without drawing an overt negative response in the press or media.

I agree with those against Gay Pride parades. It's the same with those damn St. Patrick's Day parades. Why should I have to watch a group of people who have been persecuted in this country's history display their pride in who they are? How can I explain those kilts and those annoying bagpipes to my children? It's okay to be Irish but why do they insist on pushing their agenda down my throat? Sure if you want to be Irish, go for it. But don't force me to say, "it's okay," when that is clearly against my belief.

This commercial really sets the stage for the dark corners of Bill Clinton and Al Gore. Corners that they really didn't want anyone else to know about. Great commercial!

What disturbs me is, what if this had been a commercial affirmative action...or blacks period. This would have made national headlines. I don't see the difference between the two. I can't believe the group didn't get hammered for this...

What a hideous commercial. Why do they think it's so wrong for people to have rights, to protect their country, to raise children who would otherwise never have a home?

Donald
Do you see Straight Pride parades everywhere? Are straights constantly ramming their sexuality down others' throats? NO. Why can't gays and lesbians just keep their personal life personal? It's sickening that a parent has to explain such issues to young children because the gays constantly push their sick agenda down the throat of America. Sure, if you want to be queer, go for it. But don't force me to say, "It's OK" when that is clearly against my belief.

How can anyone be so homophobic and full of hate and discrimination.
