WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

Alliance Atlantis, Everybody In Drag

Members:

An entire series of 12 promotional ads from Showcase, a Canadian cable network, features drag queens in Gap-like stark white backgrounds, to promote its extensive Gay Pride month programming. The tagline also emulated The Gap, which once carried an "Everybody in..." theme.

Like Showtime in the U.S., Showcase features the series "Queer As Folk" and even uses a similar slogan: "Television without borders."

These ads feature the "B-Girls", three famous drag queens from the Toronto area (they're icons of Pride here). I think Showcase meant to appeal to the Toronto queer community more than to stereotype.

John
Love drag queens but it is a bit stereotypical and not the majority.

Jim
I agree with John from Toronto.

Cute and fun, just like us!
