WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

Coca-Cola Co., Pool Boy

Members:

It's a hot day and the pool boy is doing his job while being watched by a daydreaming young woman of the house -- and a young man. They both think of the same thing at the same time, to bring this thirsty man a Coke.

It's sister vs. brother in the rush to be the hero to quench the hunk's thirst. They each try to take the other down in the race, only to be beaten by mom, who was several steps ahead of them.

“Let’s face it, Mom always knows better, and she not only got to the pool boy before them both, but she also fixed a sandwich for the guy,” Rodolfo Echeverria, global VP of creative and connections at Coca-Cola, told Adweek. “It’s a human story, and Coca-Cola is at the center.”

This is an outstanding example of inclusion that doesn't resort to stereotypes or humor at the expense of the LGBT person.
