WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

KDDI Corp., Reception

Members:

A man works behind the reception desk of a hotel. He glances over at the bellhop, who is impeccably dressed, but for his white shirttail sticking out of his fly.

The reception man thinks to himself as he looks at the bellhop, "You, your fly is undone." The bellhop is uncertain why he is being frowned at.

Trying to silently communicate the issue, the receptionist looks down at the fly, still frowning. More intensely staring now, he hopes the other will understand. "C'mon, zip it up," he thinks.

Now the bellhop, thinking he is being flirted or toyed with, begins containing a smile. "Don't look at me like that," thinks the receptionist. Indignant, he frowns even more, "It's not what you think."

Now, concentrating, as if to send him the message by Extra Sensory Perception (ESP), he thinks "Zip! Up! Your! Fly!" Suddenly, the customer in front of him seems to get the message instead, and does just that.

Continuing the game of silence, the receptionist thinks to the customer, "No, not you!" And looks again at the bellhop. "You!" The bellhop still wears a smile, and others in the hotel lobby begin zipping their flies too -- everyone but the smiling bellhop.

"Are you getting across?" asks the text, with a closeup of the mobile phone on the bellhop's belt. "Why not make that call?"

The ad gets an Equal rating for a neutral if not positive response by the bellboy of the seemingly gay pass from the receptionist clerk. Further, the humor does not rely on the same-sex attraction joke alone.

Doesn't this happen to everyone once in a while? Cute and witty with a touch of innocence.
