WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

Maine Won't Discriminate, Harassment

Members:

A Maine resident, Dave Giampetruzzi, tells the story of his son, who faced discrimination in the workplace on account of being gay. He says, "My son left a job because of very overt harassment. He's gay. No person should lose a job simply because they're gay." Pictures of the family are shown.

"The law does provide the protection that everybody is entitled to, regardless of who they are." As pictures of the happy family are shown intermittently, Giampetruzzi continues, "A repeal vote means that we're going to go back, and the protection that currently exists will go away. That hurts. All we ask for our children is fairness, and that's why I'm voting 'no' on question 1."

The ad earns a positive rating because it attempts to personalize the story of discrimination in the workplace and aims to ensure that such discrimination remains illegal.
