WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, Same Old Discrimination

Members:

This ad is one of several submissions into the GLAAD "I DO" competition. “I DO” is a national competition to create the best 30-second television commercial in support of marriage equality for same-sex couples.

This ad, like some over the other ads in this competition, compare black segregation and women's right issues in the past, to the denial of gay and lesbian marriage rights now.

Ghostly choir music plays over black and white footage of women, and African-Americans protesting for rights. The words "We fought discrimination" float across the footage.

Images displaying examples of black and white segregation is blended into present day images of gay and lesbian couples attempting to get marriage licenses, couples holding hands and kissing, and marches supporting gay rights.

A voiceover says: "However you look at it, it's discrimination. And that's just plain wrong. Support equality, it's the right thing to do."
