Procter & Gamble Co., Fresh Too Feisty To Quit
Flamboyant gay comic actor Tituss Burgess, known for his role on Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, stars in this multi-ad campaign. Sitting on top of a home washing machine, and decked out in a purple bowtie and all sorts of patterns between his shirt and jacket, Burgess tells a housewife, "Hey girl, hey...Are you ready to give you laundry lasting freshness for up to 12 weeks?
"Each one of these beads works reeaalll hard, just like a theater actor, working his way up to the top...for years and years." He looks off into the distance, and the home lighting changes to stage lights, and theatrically he says, as if to Shakespeare, "To stop, or unstop! That is the Downy!"
"You can pour in as much or little as you like. This isn't a buffet, girl, nobody is going to judge you if you keep going!" At the end, the wordless housewife cheerfully offers him some clothes she's folding to assist, but she went too far with their friendship -- "Girl, I don't fold clothes!"
Trevor Thrun, associate brand director of North American fabric care at Procter & Gamble told Adweek: "He plays his characters with such a fresh and feisty spirit that when it came time to cast the star of this campaign, he was a natural choice. His freshness and feistiness are long-lasting, just like our Unstopables In-Wash Scent Boosters."
