WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

Gruppo Campari, Deck

Members:

Since 2001, Skyy vodka has gotten much more daring in its gay-targeted print advertising, beginning with an effort that took on the hot topic of same-sex marriage.

The ads in 2002 have become more sexy, featuring bikini-clad women and this one with three men suggestively laying together while touching on the deck of a boat.

The company is among few that have chosen to represent both gay men and women in its ads.

Why does the black guy have to be turned upside down and not the whites? I think it's because black people are associated with "the body" and not with intellect. And what do you have between the whites' faces? They're not even looking at the black guy. They're focused on each other. They used such a dark guy to contrast the white background. This ad can be construed as being racist.

Oh please, another boring three cute guys ad. Look, if they're gonna target me, show me some bloody action, show me kisses, hugs, licking nipples, I don't know. Or show me two gays shooting guns, or hunting, or fishing and touching each other while they touch themselves. DAMMIT SKYY! BE MORE CREATIVE! What the hell, I do like the men there and I love the drink, I drink Skyy every time I go to a gay bar.

I love the fact they included some people of color and that one wasn't your typical "so-light-they-could-be-any-nationality" person of color.

Beautifully & thoughtfully done. :-)

The models look like they've been cut out and pasted together. They obviously weren't all together during the original shoot. It's great that they've included someone of color -- but did they have to put him in such an obvious subserviant position? HATE IT!
