WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

Patriot Media Group/TASS, Orphanage

This ad was created for the Russian Federal News Agency, TASS, by the American-based Patriot Media Group (called pro-Kremlin by Moscow Times news agency and reportedly linked to U.S.-sanctioned Putin ally Yevgeny Prigozhin).

A man arrives at an orphanage to pick up a boy that he and his male partner are adopting.

As the orphanage director records the happy moment on video, they walk outside together. The boy asks where the new mom is and the new dad points to his partner standing next to the car (a Mini Cooper), who is feminine.

"Here's your new mum. Don't be upset," says the dad. The boys face falls, and so does that of the two female workers from the orphanage. Then in a most unlikely moment, the feminine partner pulls out a velvet red dress for their new son to wear. The two orphanage workers scoff.

"What Russia do you choose?" the voiceover says.

"Decide the future of the country. Vote for the amendments to the constitution."

The amendment is for constitutional changes that would allow Vladimir Putin to stand again as president as well as another proposed change, a stipulation that marriage is a union between a man and woman.
