Miwa is well known for his well-respected, caring personality (which in recent year got him a weekly spiritual talk show) and has been in the show business for half a century. Having gone through tough times along his way to succeeding in the show biz, he has been very supportive for the LGBT community and now is one of the few successful celebrities in Japan who openly talks about social and political issues including the LGBT issues.
