WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

ViacomCBS, Brothers Kiss

Members:

Three dudes hang out in a parking lot, in a parked car at night. "Ohh this stuff is really good," says one, passing a bong back to the man in the rear seat.

The two men in the front seat turn and suddenly lip lock, with some tongue. The man in back is horrified. "Aren't you guys...brothers?"

The text reads, "If you're high, just make sure you don't drive."

I agree with the other comments that say this is a negative ad. I also think that in a strange way, it can be a positive ad because the guy in the back says nothing about the fact they're two guys, only that they're brothers. Also, the guys only seemed grossed out because they're brothers. I think this rating needs to be reconsidered... maybe gay vague?

Homosexuality has been associated with incest. The negative rate is correct.

Why on earth would this be rated as negative?! The reaction of the guy in the back seat was obviously about the fact that they were brothers. I think for this one your assessment criteria is flawed. The may portray incest negatively, but not homosexuality.

I think Dwight has this exactly right. The "creepy" factor here is the incest angle, not the M2M kiss. For a nice change, men kissing isn't the worst thing portrayed in an spot.

I agree with Dwight from Pittsburgh, PA that this ad only portrays incest negatively, NOT homosexuality.
