WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

Vodafone Group, Party

Members:

In this Hungarian television spot for Vodafone, a young man with a thing for blondes is at a party. He sits down next to a mannequin, thinking she's a real person, and strokes her hair. Disappointed that she's not real, he pushes her over.

Making his way to the dance floor, he slides over to a blonde in a red dress. He grabs her waist and dances with her, until she tells him in a low voice that reveals her sex as male, "You're a cool cowboy."

He sits down looking dejected, but then sees yet another blonde in a red dress. She smiles at him and gives a sneak peek of her shoulders. The young man smiles back and makes his way to her. He stares at her body and her breasts -- perhaps wondering if they are real, after so many failures -- and reaches out to grab them.

Her eyes widen as she slaps him across the face. Undaunted, he simply smiles and keeps dancing.

This ad definately deserves a "Gay Vague" category.

I don't think this ad should be rated as equal. The editor has rated other ads which have had the same situation of turning down a transgender woman as a negative. Granted, he doesn't get upset, but he doesn't go after her either. It doesn't deserve a negative rating, but it's definitely not equal either.
