WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

"In America, if a man and woman want, they can use this," begins this light-hearted ad, as a dildo appears accompanied by circus music.

"Or these," the narrator reports, regarding a string of green anal beads.

In clipped phrases -- which include "and that thing," -- the narrator continues to describe a plethora of sex toys in a cheerful tone. In a rainbow of sizes, shapes, and colors, they vibrate across the screen.

The narrator speaks faster with each item, until a butt plug dances across the screen, when he adds, "whatever that is."

"But if a gay couple wants to use these," he says as a red box with two wedding rings it in appears, "they could find themselves using these" -- a pair of police handcuffs.

A ballot box appears. "Just something to think about when you're using one of these."

This ad is one of six ads about gay marriage from MTV's Choose or Lose campaign. MTV has set the gold standard among all advertisers for the most ads that refer to the community, more than 30 since 1996, in addition to carrying numerous gay ads from other companies and running its own supportive gay-inclusive programming.
