This ad for TurnOut, a campaign for equality, aired in Michigan.

The date, October 19, 2003, appears onscreen as a man says, "My name's Frank. I'm a life insurance agent." Frank walks through a revolving door, headed for work. Sitting at his desk, he continues, "I'm 43 years old… and I'm gay. Today I've decided it's time to come out to my manager."

He glances at his watch. "It makes me a better person to be out, to be honest." A close up of his hands reveals that he is fidgeting with a pen. "But in my state…" he says, pausing, "You could be fired for being gay. So, wish me luck."

The screen reads, "In 36 states including Michigan, you can be fired just because you're gay."

Frank walks to his manager's office and knocks as the words, "Find out more at TurnOut.org," appear onscreen. The ad ends as Frank enters the office.

Other ads from the campaign feature lesbians named Lisa and Kimya and a gay man named Dave.
