WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

Save Traditional Marriage (Hawaii), Daddy's Roommate

Members:

A Hawaiian boy at home reads aloud from the book "Daddy's Wedding." "Reverend Paul turned to me, Nick, I believe you have the rings. First daddy put a gold ring on Frank's finger. Then Frank slipped a ring on daddy's finger. After that, Rev. Paul said they were" and the boy pauses with confusion when it says, "married?"

The voiceover then says, "If you don't think homosexual marriage will affect you, how do you think it will affect your children?"

The commercial dramatizes the fear many have of gay marriage and of children's books about the subject.

Despite much media attention, gay marriage ultimately failed in Hawaii.

Quantum physics is the work of Satan! It will undermine our regular, normal physics classes if we don't write a constitutional ban on quantum physics, don'tcha know?

I don't think this commercial worked. While the message was insulting (we must protect marriage for the CHIRRUN!), the medium was stupid. If little kids don't understand it, then we shouldn't allow it? Well, then, guess we'll also have to ban quantum physics, algebra, Victorian literature, high school, taxes, hypocrisy, and other concepts that adolescents can't quite grasp.
