WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

ViacomCBS, Crystal Meth Club

Members:

A group of six men sit together in a darkened room, and a caption introduces the viewer to The Crystal Meth Club. The men discuss their drug habit in a support group format.

A slightly effeminate man, wearing Gothic black lipstick and eyeliner, says, "I did it because it was a party," another man says, "I thought I would not do it again," and still another adds, "I had nothing else to do."

The next caption reads, Crystal Meth Users Only.

"I started using crystal meth around 16 and I started using needles around 18," says the first man. "Crystal meth was a way to get out of my problems," shares another man, wearing head bandages and a goatee.

"The last time I had it was...two hours ago," admits a black man. Another effeminate guy says matter-of-factly, "I think I've got a greater chance of dying from it than quitting."

The closing text reads: Crystal Meth. Wanna join the club?

The ad shows the realistic effects of the drug on people's lives. While their sexuality is not discussed, it includes gay people who have embraced crystal meth in many dance clubs.
