Sony Corp., The Killing of Sister George
This taboo-shattering dark comedy, "The Killing of Sister George," stars Beryl Reid as George and Susannah York as her live-in lover Childie. Reid's character plays a nun, named Sister George, on a successful television soap opera, and the two women share an open lesbian relationship. The trailer shows the two women touching and kissing passionately.
George spirals down a path of self-destruction, and Childie takes another lover. The tag line: The story of three consenting adults in the privacy of their own home.
Directed by Robert Aldrich ("The Dirty Dozen"), the film's frank depictions of sexuality initially earned an X rating. It is one of the first major films to portray a woman completely at ease with her love of another woman.
