WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

Patrick Cox, Jockstrap

Members:

Banned in the UK but appearing in British fashion magazine i-D, this ad for designer shoe Wannabe by Patrick Cox appears to show two men in jockstraps wrestling -- or is it having anal sex? -- with a woman nearby.

One of the men is lying on his back with his legs in the air, while the other crouches over, ready to mount him. The photograph was taken by celebrity fashion photographer David LaChapelle. The ad is part of Patrick Cox's locker room-themed campaign.

Patrick Cox said of the campaign, "The ads look like a 1950s porn film."

The UK's watchdog group Advertising Standards Authority says it banned the ads because they were "deliberately ambiguous and sexually provocative" and because the image was too explicit for the magazine's younger readers, 5.5% of whom are aged 15-17 years old.

Well, I can appreciate it being banned... I don't even get it, to be honest. What's the girl actually doing?
