Two men appear in this campy commercial, posed as several different people with tit-for-tat conversation. The two comedians are widely disliked in the Brazilian gay community for a TV program they are on that frequently uses the word "viado" (faggot) to refer to gays.

First, appearing as a customer at a typical bank, the man tells the credit agent, "The paperwork is all here, I've even brought my macho certificate."

The agent replies, "Here at Fininvest, credit is no bureaucracy. Your macho certificate is expired."

Text reads: "Personal loan? It's okay with Fininvest."

Now the two men play a husband and wife in bed together, with one of them in drag -- with a wig, earrings and a dress -- who says, "Honey, look at my Fininvest special card with a pre-approved credit limit."

The husband says, "The loans are approved real fast," then the wife replies: "Like you..."

Next, the men appear as flamboyant gay men in scarves, one even fans himself with a pink feather. In fey voices, one says to the other, "Fininvest gives approval fast and easy."

The response: "Big deal, so do I ..."
(The Portuguese here of "to give" here has a sexual connotation, which makes the reply humorous.)

Closing text: "When they say no, Fininvest says yes. Forty years."

While this ad is not meant to be realistic, the hyper-stereotyped appearance of the gay men is predictably used merely as a joke. Importantly, the two comedians are despised by many Brazilian gays because the TV program they are on, Casseta & Planeta, trequently uses the word "viado" (faggot) to refer to gays in many of their sketches.

Played for camp or not, this is yet another ad that plays on and reinforces stereotypes. Argh! This agency needs to grow up!
