WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

DB Breweries, Dad's new husband seems nice. Yeah right.

According to Adweek, Tui's marketing manager claims this ad's headline is an innocent combination of the brand's catchphrase with New Zealand's parliament passing a Marriage Equality Act in April 2013. The ad was meant "to highlight the common situation or uncertainty experienced when someone's parent remarries," the brand manager says. So the "Yeah right" supposedly refers to the awkwardness of when a parent remarries -- not because dad is now gay.
