WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

ViacomCBS, Cupid

Members:

A little person dressed as cupid appears to be flying above a gay male couple. Cupid shoots an arrow at the couple, but he misses. One of the men is signing the cast on the other's arm.

Cupid descends and gives his speech: "Yeah, they're ready for the arrow of love, but Omar's never been tested for STD's. He thinks he got tested at the doctor's office, but you've got to ask for the test. With all these STD's around, I aint just spreading 'happily ever after.' People, get tested, use condoms, it's a labor of love! For more information, go to think.mtv.com." Cupid proceeds to fly off into the distance.

The ad earns an "Equal" rating because Cupid is unphazed by the fact that he is discussing a gay couple, and their is no mention of how the couple deviates from social norms.

This ad is clearly gay positive and gay equal, and it indeed fits in both categories.
