WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

Jay Ingrum for State Representative, Faith and Family

Members:

"Faith and family mean the world of Jay Ingrum," begins this ad for the Democratic candidate in Tennessee's 45th House District.

"Jay Ingrum will make education his top priority." Images of Ingrum with children and the elderly flash onscreen. "Ingrum will work with Governor Bredensen to cut waste in TennCare," says a male narrator, "and Jay Ingrum is against gay marriage and against the income tax." His positions on gay marriage and the income tax are repeated onscreen, which also tells of his 'A' rating from the NRA.

The cheery tone then shifts to an accusatory one, and the images are no longer in color. "Debra Maggart wants to hide money funding her campaign by drug company interests," says a female narrator.

"Maggart wants to cut our schools by millions. Debra Maggart: fined $5,000 for breaking campaign finances laws. Maggart, the wrong choice," concludes the ad.

Maggart (Ingrum's Republican opponent) won the Nashville-area seat with 57% of the vote.
