This startlingly frank condom ad puts into relief a complete lack of American gay marketing efforts by condom manufacturers. Ansell has had an almost unnoticeable presence in The Advocate as early as 1992 but only a fractional-page ad that was not gay-specific.

This male-sex LifeStyles condoms print ad appeared in the five-year-old monthly Australian magazine, Blue. The richly produced, gay erotic publication contains numerous artistic, nude photo spreads but carries little advertising, so its cover price in the US is $15 (AU$12).
