A slideshow of various photographs of committed gay and lesbian couples appears on the screen, and the voice over explains during the first photograph, "Without marriage, Ralph and Paul will not be eligible for social security survivor benefits."
He continues as the second picture appears, "Lois and Claire have no guarantee of seeing each other in the hospital."
A picture of a family appears, and the narration proceeds, "And this family will have no protections out of state. If the legislature amends our Constitution to take away marriage rights for commited gay and lesbian couples, they'll become second class citizens...permanently."
Finally, the text "Civil Unions are not equal..." appears on the screen along with the name of the company sponsoring the ad, massequality.org. The narration concludes, "Tell your legislator civil unions are not equal. Don't put discrimination in our Constitution."
