Coop Schleswig-Holstein, Without Tom
In this spot for German market chain coop city, two women casually wander the floor while one gives furtive glances at the other. At the checkout counter, the copy reads: "For life with Tom," and next: "For life without Tom."
This ad leaves itself wide open to interpretation. Tom could be the new boyfriend of the one woman and the ex of the other, and while their lives and partners may change, coop city remains an ever-present constant. On the other hand, the second woman being "without Tom" could be interpreted to mean that she has no man in her life — explaining her noticeable interest in the other woman.
