This outdoor campaign that includes two men embracing, caused significant controversy. The slogan says, “Zero Sugar, Zero Prejudice” and ran during the progressive Sziget festival, an annual week-long event that draws high-profile musical guests.
The Hungarian Consumer Protection Department fined the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Group in Hungary 500,000 HFU (Hungarian Forints) ($1,660), for ads that "damage the physical, mental, emotional, or moral development of children and adolescents."
Although the ad created political backlash, Coca-Cola stated, “The Coca-Cola Company strives for diversity, inclusion and equality in our business, and we support these rights in society as well. As a long-standing supporter of the LGBTQI community, we believe everyone has the right to love the person they choose. The campaign currently running in Hungary reflects these values.”
