Gay marriage is starting to wend its way into ads, as Skyy Vodka's modern twist on an old-fashioned marriage proposal shows. At the bottom of the cocktail is an enormous diamond ring.

Though still a glamorous male ideal of lesbians in high heels and bright red lipstick, these women are not interacting in the presence of men as many other such pairings do.

This ad has appeared in pseudo mainstream art/fashion titles Interview and Paper as well as OUT magazine.

Great that SKYY portrays lesbians in this setting. And like gay males, lesbians have all kinds of clothes and accessories. *Cool!* :-)

It's a nice, sexy ad... my problem is with ComCloset's comments...Why SHOULDN'T lesbians be wearing high heels and lipstick? I enjoy diversity in gay advertising -- diversity that reflects, well, the diversity of the gay and lesbian community, which, in the latter, includes femmes and butches. It's true that many commercials (beer companies: I'm looking in your direction) make ads specifically targeted at the straight male fascination with lesbians, but that's no reason to play into the butch lesbian stereotype, which, honestly, is not only unrealistic, but it would be a disservice to the lesbian community. Whew! That's my rant for the day. I'm being critical here, but that's just my nature: I really do appreciate everything that the Commercial Closet is doing for the gay community.

I disliked this ad not because of its gay content but because it is overly glamorous. It seeks to entice people in a community that already has a high rate of alcohol addiction compared to the general public and glorifies that drinking vodka is a part of romance. Frankly, I don't like most of the alcohol advertising aimed at the gay community for just this reason.
