The public service announcement, which is a part of GLAAD's "Be An Ally, Be A Friend" public service campaign, aired on May 9, 2006. It aired after an episode of CBS's "As the World Turns," in which actor Van Hansis plays a teenage youth coming out to his parents.

In the PSA, actress Martha Byrne (Lily, As the World Turns) says, "Everyday people face rejection, prejudice and violence because they're gay but you can make a difference."

Van Hansis (Luke, As the World Turns) adds, "Send a message of support and acceptance. Be an ally and a friend."
