GLSEN / Ad Council, That's So Gay - Cashiers
Two young female cashiers are behind the register in a store.
EMMA: Are you going out tonight? JULIA: I can’t. My parents say I have to go home right after work. EMMA: Uhh, that’s so gay. JULIA: It’s totally gay.
A mom-type of customer overhears them as she walks over.
CUSTOMER: That’s so Emma and Julia. EMMA: What do you mean “That’s so Emma and Julia?” CUSTOMER: You know, when something is dumb or stupid, you say, “That’s so Emma and Julia.” EMMA: Who says that? CUSTOMER: Everyone. (Said matter-of-factly.)
The announcer says, "Imagine if who you are were used as an insult. When you say “that’s so gay” do you realize what you say? Knock it off."
