Time Warner, Lord of the Rings-Secret Lovers
In a creative attempt to promote their broadcast of "The Lord of the Rings," TBS put together inconsecutive clips of Frodo and Sam that makes it appear they are more than just friends. To further pronounce the joke being made, the song "Secret Lovers" plays in the background throughout the entire commercial.
"Mr. Frodo's not going anywhere without me," says Sam after running to Frodo's side.
After climbing a mountain, Frodo looks deep into Sam's eyes and says, "I'm glad you're with me," followed by a close up of Gandalf, played by the famous gay actor Ian McKellen, rolling his eyes.
In the final clip, Frodo and Sam are on a boat. "Oh, Sam!" Frodo cries and hugs Sam.
"The Lord of the Rings. All this weekend," says the announcer. "On TBS."
