WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

Guardian Newspapers Limited, From Abba to Zappa

Members:

Supporting the Observer's weekly Music Magazine, cartoon rock musicians float by in alphabetically, including Queen, Red Hot Chili Peppers (wearing just socks over their genitals as usual), two Catholic school girls (in ties and skirts) kiss on top of an electronic piano for another artist, the Village People do their YMCA routine.

The ad earns an Equal rating for its inclusion of the Village People, Queen, AND a lesbian kiss!

I suspect, given the "Tt", that the "schoolgirls" in question were pseudo-lesbian Russian pop-duo Tatu. Impressively obscure ad. I'm not sure how forcing viewers to squint at the screen and run down the list of appropriately-named bands in their heads helps to attract a broad audience, but maybe I'm just kind of thick but I have to admit that the inclusion of the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, et al. -- once I figured out who they were meant to be -- certainly got me interested.
