WHERE SUCCESSFUL ADVERTISING MEETS LGBT EQUALITY

Bianco Footwear, He Didn't Know About Our Men's Collection - Charlotte

Members:

Bianco Footwear asked a tranny union (TID) for help to find models and found six transvestites who were asked to participate. The six models used their own clothes and were used in calendars, postcards, posters, ads and, (after some lessons in catwalking) in several fashion shows around Denmark.

These ads appeared posters in the show store's 100 shops in Scandanavia's Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Poland, as well as print ads in newspapers and weekly magazines. Feedback was measured in the Danish magazine Woman and the response among the readers was very positive.

Bianco also had a "Crossdresser of the Year" competition in all their shops, with many male participants.

Very sexy! I want to shop in this men's department!

Aster
This is a cute ad campaign, but I find it annoying that all the transwomen are referred to by male pronouns.

Andrea James
These are all fine, especially because crossdressers are usually the most reviled and ridiculed of all transpeople.

Monica
As a transsexual girl, I'm pretty torn. It seems great the way they're giving back to the trans community and championing these people. However, they're referring to them by male pronouns and that's about the most offensive, hurtful thing you can do to a trans person.
