This ad is powerful, educational, and depressing. This is a simple way to let gay, lesbian, and bisexual Americans know their rights, without them having to do time-consuming research, or feel intimidated by legal language. As a heterosexual person, I can say that the ad would not have much affect on apathetic, on-the-fence heteros, but it would give fuel to "straight allies" who argue for fair treatment. ACLU reminds Americans through this ad that equality DOES NOT exist, and may make some people form the connection from state approved racism to state approved homophobia.
